Obesity
Obesity, which is considered as one of the most serious diseases of today and the future, unfortunately increases rapidly, especially children, during the pandemic period. In addition to increasing time spent inactive, due to the increase in the level of many stress hormones, including cortisol, mental factors such as stress and nervousness, the appetite for sugar, floury, fat and high calorie foods increase and slowing the metabolism of the body in order to protect itself at the same time inevitably increases the risk of obesity. While obesity increases the risk of a number of diseases such as heart disease, cancer and type 2 diabetes, it also causes impaired function of the immune system called lymphoid and neutrophil lines. This imbalance in the immune system and chronic inflammation of normal tissue include people with obesity in the group at high risk of developing the disease. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that people with heart disease and diabetes are at higher risk for COVID-19 complications. In cases where there is no response from the treatments and diet methods given as a result of detailed examinations for obesity, surgical intervention is required. Surgical applications with laparoscopic (closed) method is one of the most effective methods in the treatment of obesity and 80-95% full or partial recovery is achieved.
