Dental Plaque Treatment
Good oral hygiene, including regular brushing and flossing, removes plaque and prevents tartar. During a dental examination, your dentist will remove plaque and tartar from your teeth. Your dentist may also recommend:
- Dental sealants to keep plaque from forming on teeth.
- Dry mouth medications to increase saliva production.
- Fluoride treatments to slow the growth of plaque-causing bacteria.
- Prescription toothpaste or antibacterial mouthwash (chlorhexidine).
