Bariatric Surgery
Bariatric surgery can lead to permanent weight loss and help improve many obesity-related diseases, such as type 2 diabetes. However, it's a major operation and in most cases should only be considered after trying to lose weight with a healthy diet and exercise. There are several different types of bariatric surgery.
- Gastric Botox: In this method, botulinum toxin is injected to the exit of the stomach endoscopically. This is not an exactly surgical procedure.
- Gastric Balloon: In this procedure, a soft balloon filled with water or air is placed on the patient’s stomach.
- Gastric Sleeve: In this procedure, where a large part of the stomach is removed so it's much smaller than it was before.
